Stephen Chauvin is Chair of the New Orleans’ Nine. Every year since 2005, the Louisiana Landmark Society has compiled a list of nine sites around the city that are threatened by demolition, neglect, or bureaucracy. Modeled after the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Most Endangered program, the New Orleans Nine List calls attention to important historic sites that are endangered. The purpose is to highlight the value of these sites, advocate for historic preservation, and educate the public about the significance of these irreplaceable sites that contribute uniquely to the rich cultural fabric of New Orleans. The 2018 list includes the old Spanish Fort built in 1808, making the Fort one of oldest structures in New Orleans.
